World Traveler

Geoff “G” Vu is a world traveler and storyteller originally from Oakland, California. After spending over fifteen years as an educator in the Bay Area, he left the United States to embark on a journey of global exploration, creating art wherever inspiration strikes. From the vast deserts of Namibia to the winding alleys of Skiathos, G believes every place holds a story waiting to be told, so long as we are willing to listen.

A child of Vietnamese refugees known as “Boat People”, G’s work delves deeply into themes of identity, place, and belonging. His artistic practice is infused with personal history, exploring the intersections of past and present, displacement and connection.

During the Lago Skiathos residency, G created the short film Remember Me, a poignant love letter to the sea. This film reflects on the sea as both a life-giving force and a vast, unforgiving presence—graceful yet untamed. For G, the sea represents both salvation and separation: it carried his family to safety, yet remains a chasm between a past and present that feel increasingly intangible. With no fixed home, G considers the sea his only constant—a concept as much as a presence.
