Kat Obermeyer is a painter and designer based in Kansas City whose work celebrates the rich diversity of plant and animal life through both digital and acrylic art. During her time at Lago Skiathos, Kat expanded her ongoing Sauces in Bloom series, which originated as a playful exploration of her and her partner’s genealogical connections through food. At the residency, she shifted focus to study the flora, fauna, and food native to Skiathos and Greek culture. Each piece created during this time marked a new direction for the series, exploring cultural and ecological connections outside the framework of her genealogical studies. Kat’s work at Lago Skiathos continues her practice of blending vibrant artistry with thoughtful narratives about nature and heritage.
